THE WEDDING PERFUME

Much like the wedding lipstick or the wedding nail varnish, the wedding perfume is something that I gave some thought to in the lead up. Smell and fragrance is one of the most powerful ways to recall memories and I love how one sniff of a scent can take you back 10, 20, 30 years in an instant. Originally, I had in my mind trawling around shops looking for something new, I wanted to visit the Liberty perfumery because, let's face it, it's THE place if you want to find something beautiful, different and special. But when it came to it, apart from being my usual disorganised self and not having yet made it out to do this with only 6 weeks to go, I also think I've always had in my mind which fragrance I want to wear. It was only upon a shopping trip with my Mum not too long before the wedding day, that I realised why my love affair with the chosen one is so strong; it's because she used to wear it. The perfume I chose to wear is Dior Pure Poison and gosh it is a beaut.

I hadn't remembered that this was the fragrance she used to wear when I was younger, but have loved it for years and I am sure that this is part of the reason. Described on the Dior website as "a voluptuous musky composition based on white flowers such as orange blossom...Pure Poison incarnates seduction in its purest state". Quite the description! Whilst I don't find the fragrance too heavy or musky, there is some depth to the floral and fresh notes that make it perfect for both day and night wear. This isn't a perfume that gives me a headache (and some definitely do, for example Miss Dior will sometimes) no matter how much I spray and I can safely say it is definitely a huge favourite.

I actually nearly ended up walking down the aisle forgetting to have applied it, I was so nervous beforehand, but thankfully my makeup artist reminded me in the nick of time! I love that this perfume will not only remind me of my Mum but now also of my incredible wedding day - what beautiful memories to have.
