A FEW DRUGSTORE REVIEWS

I've picked up a couple of bits recently from the drugstore, mainly just some bits that needed replacing so I thought I'd let you know what I thought of them in case you were thinking of picking them up too.
Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara
First off we have the Volume Shake mascara from Rimmel. Now when I first picked this up I thought it was a bit gimmicky, the premise is that you shake the bottle every now and then in order to keep the mascara liquid (?!) inside fresh and fluid so it doesn't end up going flaky or hard to apply. I've had this for about a month now and whilst it's ok, it's nothing to write home about. The shaking function makes the bottle really heavy which on a day to day basis is fine, if a bit irritating, but for travel it would just add weight where it really doesn't need to be added. In terms of the actual brush, it's huge and has short bristles on, which I find makes it difficult to really get to the base of your lashes or in the inner corners of your eyes. Considering it has volume in the title, I find that this gives a very natural finish without much volume or considerable length. It is build-able so if I put one coat on, leave it for a few minutes to dry and then reapply I can build some volume up, but I much prefer a mascara that is just one swipe and go. I haven't found any issues with flaking or transferring which is a bonus, but I definitely wouldn't repurchase. If you like natural looking lashes and you are concerned with your mascara drying up then I would give this a go, otherwise I think there are much better options out there.
Revolution Eyebrow Brow Dual Arch and Shape (Fair)
I picked this up after using up all of the Freedom brow powder duo and wanted to go for a pencil this time for a bit of a change. It's always risky when getting eyebrow products as we all know, because so often they end up far too warm to look anywhere near natural. This product has two ends, one is a brow pencil and the other is a very fine felt tip pen. Having used this for a few weeks, I'm not really a fan. It looks lovely when first applied, both ends work really well separately and together if you want to layer, but the problem comes when you've had it on for a few hours. I find that the colour really changes and by the end of the day my eyebrows look considerably warmer than the rest of my hair and I just find it looks really obvious that there's product there. My eyebrows get pretty sparse towards the ends and so I have to put product directly onto the skin, and if you have normal coloured eyebrow hairs most of the way up until the end and then they suddenly turn orange, it's not exactly natural.
It's not the worst I've ever used and I will use the rest up, but, once again, I won't be repurchasing. I've actually isnce repurchased the Freedom brow powder duo becuase it is SUCH a good colour. I go for medium and the colour is ashy, but not too ashy, it lasts for ages and is incredibly affordable.
Rimmel Brow This Way
HATE THIS. Honestly, the first time I used this it went very wrong. I had no idea that so much product would come out of the bloody tube! I'm used to using the Benefit Gimme Brow which is so much drier in comparison, so I ended up with wet, dark eyebrows that were literally stuck together. It's all well and good saying that if you wipe of excess form the brush each time it would work, but seriously, who has the time or patience to do that every morning? Would not recommend.
Revolution Luxury Banana Powder
I'm not having much luck with these new products, but I was kind of indifferent about this as well. The main thing I think is the colour, maybe it's because I'm pretty fair it just looks yellow as opposed to nicely brightening and I don't find it any better than using the much-revered Rimmel Stay Matte powder. Also, I find the packaging really annoying becuase the lid is tiny so where are you supposed to tip it in to? Of course you can use a small brush to apply (which I guess you would because it's likely you'll only really be using this to set smaller areas) and this would fit in the lid, but I just find it a bit of a pain with powder flying everywhere.
So, all in all not a fantastic new makeup try-on, but hey ho we live and learn!
