EVENING SKINCARE ROUTINE

I love a good evening skincare routine, there's nothing better than taking off all that makeup after a long day, especially as I often get really dry and sensitive eyes, it feels amaaaaazing to take everything off (OH) and have a clean, fresh face. As you'll be able to see, I'm a bit of a Liz Earle fangirl. I actually used to work for the company and really got into their skincare products back then, I did then stop using them after I finished working there just as I felt like I was more able to try out other products, but I always come back to the good old C&P, as well as their toner (which is without a doubt one of my all time fave skincare products).

I generally only do a single cleanse, unless I'm wearing a lot of heavy eye makeup, as I find that the C&P gets everything off in one go. Most of the time I use it with a flannel as I find they keep the heat much better than a muslin cloth, but if I feel like me face needs a slightly more intense exfoliation I will use the muslin cloth and really focus on areas where my skin texture feels a bit uneven (mainly the chin area). After cleansing I'll use the Instant Boost Skin Tonic and a cotton pad and, honestly, if there was one product I could recommend (although I highly recommend all of these) it would be this. I always used to say it to customers on the counter but this is the product I feels make a huge difference. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated, soft and glowing, as well as smelling incredible - it's very relaxing and soothing.

After toning, I'll generally go in with a serum and I've been using this Olay Regenerist Luminous serum on and off for ages now. I really love this product, it's not the cheapest (although at £29.99 for a serum that actually is very reasonable) but it's quite often on offer for a tenner off in Boots so keep your eyes out for that. This serum has quite a light, silky texture, something similar-ish to the Vichy Aqualia Thermal serum - very light and easily absorbed and it gives great results. As it says on the packaging it's a "skin-tone perfecting serum" and I definitely agree with this. After using it for a week or so you'll notice (or I did anyway) your skin looking brighter, clearer and more even in tone. I don't have particularly bad pigmentation anywhere but if you do I imagine i would work really well to help even this out. I've had great results with this serum so I would recommend highly.

Next is moisturiser and honestly I'm a bit meh about moisturisers in general, I feel like having a powerful serum to use beforehand is much more beneficial, but this Liz Earle one is nice. This is the one for Dry/Sensitive skin, which mine isn't but the Normal/Combination was out of stock, and I find it very soothing, comfortable and pleasant to use. Finally, the eye cream I'm using at the moment is the Benefit 'It's Potent' one. Again, I've used this off and on for years now and I do really like it. The consistency is medium-thick (that's not a thing but I don't know how else to describe it, you know what I mean!), it sinks in pretty quickly, so good for using before makeup too, and the pot lasts foreverrrrrrr. Same as with the moisturiser I'm a bit meh about eye cream because it's not something I can see instant results from, but I will keep using them as prevention is better than cure as they say!

As part of my skincare routine, I also often use the Liz Earle Gentle Exfoliator and the Neal's Yard Remedies Rose Hydrating Oil. I don't use these everyday, of course, although the oil would be fine to use frequently, but I tend to reach for them when I feel my skin is in need of an extra bit of TLC. The exfoliator is another one that's been a favourite for years now, it's gentle but surprisingly effective at smoothing out the skin and giving a glow. The base of it is similar to the C&P so it has similar effects but just a bit amped up for a slightly more intensive treatment. The Rose oil is a new-ish addition which I use probably 3-4 a week at night-time. It's a gorgeous oil, it smells of roses (surprisingly) and is a lovely consistency, probably something similar to that of Moroccan Oil (why do I feel like I've made that comparison on here before?), and it leaves your skin feeling plump, hydrated and glowing in the morning.
