A COUPLE OF BITS FROM THE ORDINARY

I wanted to pick up a few bits from The Ordinary after hearing so much about it recently and have been going through a skincare-obsessed phase recently. Sometimes it's makeup, sometimes it's skincare, sometimes it's fashion, but recently I've been into skincare big time and couldn't resist getting a couple of bits to try out.

I've been wanting to try a new primer, although I am a big fan of the Maxfactor Facefinity Primer, it's always fun to try something new isn't it and this was only FOUR POUNDS. Honestly, the price of The Ordinary's products are ridiculous so I was even more intrigued to try them out. This primer has a really nice texture, it's not too silicone-y even though it is a silicone primer, I don't find that it has that slippy, almost oily feel or finish on the skin. In fact I find the Facefinity primer leaves slightly more of a noticeable silicone finish on the skin. This feels very refreshing when applied and is a lovely light consistency. In terms of smoothing and pore-filling, I wouldn't say it's as effective as something like, for example, Benefit's Porefessional which, as most of us know, is bloody good at making your face look as smooth as a baby's bum, but it does leave a very nice finish ready to apply makeup and doesn't ball up at all when applying products on top. In terms of keeping makeup on, I honestly haven't been wearing that much foundation or many base products recently so may not be the best to recommend, I was more interested in the smoothing effects which I can say are evident. And for £4 you can't really say no can you?

The other product I was really interested to try was the Advanced Retinoid as anything with retinoids (retinol - what's the correct term here?!) in are big news at the moment in the skincare world. Having never used any retinoid (again, is that right?!) products before I want to err on the side of caution and use this wisely as I know it can take some time to see the effects of using these products so unfortunately I can't give a proper review as to effectiveness here and now, but will certainly update in the next few months/weeks and let you know if I have noticed a difference in my skin. I'm after the anti-ageing benefits over any others (I know it can be great for reducing pigmentation, acne, scarring etc) so, again, it will be a bit difficult to fully assess effectiveness now, but I'm hoping when I'm 50 years old I'll be able to report back that I'm happy with it hahahaha!

Have you used any products from The Ordinary? I want to get my hands on the Hyaluronic Acid next to increase the hydration in my skin and will no doubt pick up some others bits in the near future. Let me know what you've tried and you love because I'd be very interested to know!
