So I've been slacking with reading in the last two weeks, if you read my 'MOTIVATION' post you'll probably know why, I've just had a general lack of motivation for a lot really and I often find that at times of stress or when there's a lot on my mind reading is the first thing that will take a back seat. However, it's time to make a change and so here is what I'm planning on picking up throughout May...

Pages For Her by Sylvia Brownrigg

Firstly, I'm going to finish this one, it's a proof that I picked up at work and it's out at the end of June in the UK. The story follows the lives of two women, Flannery and Anne Arden years after they were involved in a passionate and somewhat life-changing affair. The book is actually a sequel to 'Pages For You' which I haven't read, and I believe actually tells the story of the affair, so I think I will probably go back and read that after because I think it will make this book more interesting. I am enjoying the book and the way it really beautifully analyses love and what it can do to a person, especially in the long run, how love never really leaves you even after twenty years, but I do feel like reading the first one would certainly give more weight to the story if I understood more what had happened all those years ago.

Pages For Her

The Door by Margaret Atwood

This is a poetry collection by Margaret Atwood that I really want to dip into as I've heard good things and, asI mentioned in a previous blog post, I'm trying to read more poetry. What I'm going to do is set myself a challenge to read a poem everyday in May and I'll report back once I've done it to see if I'm any more poem-savvy by the end of it.

Delusions of Gender by Cordelia Fine

I started this a month or two ago but got distracted by other things at the time. It's quite hard going at the start I found but I want to give it another go because I think the topics discussed in this non-fiction book is very interesting. From what I've read about the book I believe it aims to dispel a lot of the much-heard "myths" about gender differences being scientifically proven and that culture and well engrained behaviours are actually playing a much bigger part than we think.

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi

I've obviously heard a lot about this recently as it has been talked about a lot on book-tube and has been a major bestseller, but a work colleague that I very much trust the opinion of as well has also given it a very high recommendation so I want to get to this sharpish. I really love books that make me feel something and aren't just a story for the sake of a story, so I'm really excited to get my hands on this and start reading it.

Get Your Sh*t Together by Sarah Knight

"You need me to get that shit together..." It's all I can think about when I see the title of this book now. Going along with my quest to stop being a demotivated human, I'm 100% going to read this book by the same author as the very popular 'The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k'. The byline sounds PERFECT for me : "How to stop worrying about what you should do so you can finish what you need to do and start doing what you want to do." Very excited to get started on this and, who knows, maybe I will actually get my shit together!
